Dear Kate...
"This is to advise you that all candidate assessments related to this process have now been completed. Unfortunately, the selection board found that you did not meet all of the qualifications for this position."

I feel like an absolute failure.

Egad! Sweets! This is no indication of who you are or what you are capable of. But clarify--this is just a job right? This isn't for your MA, right?

    Piss.

    That sucks.

But like Sarah said, this isn't a reflection of you. It's a reflection that the people they used to interview should be fired.

What's plan B? I hope it involves antique books.

Um, no it's not the MA - it's just the job. I'm feeling more pissed off than sad today, after all the bloody hassle they put me through just to get the damn interview.

Plan B at the moment involves an application for a receptionist's job at the U of Alberta and several applications for Border Services Officer positions in Edmonton, middle-of-nowhere Alberta and middle-of-nowhere Saskatchewan. Hence the needing to learn how to handle a gun safely before they actually hire me, if not actually how to fire a gun.

Plan C involves Park Hosting, Chapters, Second Cup, and lots of tears that I wasted many thousands of dollars of my parents' money and can't even get a 'real' job out of it.

You'll get a good job. Everything happens for a reason - you'll never know how good/bad that job would have been. Keep applying and see what happens. I guess if you work in the middle-of-nowhere you'll be able to get a big house with a swimming pool. Border control sounds like a cool job to me! I'd like to learn how to handle a gun so I can deal with all the arsehole consultants in my hospital.
